Abba Kyari: Body arrives Abuja for burial

ALHAJI Abba Kyari, deceased Aso Rock strongman and Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, will be buried in Abuja today, Premium Times, quoted presidential spokesman, Garba shehu to have said.

Alhaji Kyari died on Friday night in Lagos from complications arising from coronavirus infection at a private medical facility in Lagos where he was moved to on March 29, 2020 some days after he tested positive for the virus in Abuja.

Premium Times quoted Garba  Shehu to have stated that Alhaji Kyari’s remains will arrive in Abuja from Lagos on Saturday morning and will be received by friends and cabinet colleagues at the airport in Abuja from where he will later be taken to a cemetery in the nation’s capital for burial.

According to the publication, the burial will not be made open in compliance with the existing social distancing directive aimed at curbing the spread of the deadly virus.

Alhaji Kyari’s death was announced by both spokespersons to President Buhari in via twitter messages early Saturday morning.

Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, first announced the death through his twitter handle @FemAdesina by 12:44am with the following message: “Chief of Staff to the President, Mallam Abba Kyari, passes on. May God rest his soul. Amen. Funeral arrangements to be announced soon.”

Mallam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to the President, twitted twice, first announcing the death: “The deceased had tested positive to the ravaging COVID-19, and had been receiving treatment. But he died on Friday, April 17, 2020.” He later twitted: “May God accept his soul. Funeral arrangements will be announced shortly.”

National Record gathered that final Muslim prayers will be held for Alhaji Kyari at the Defence House while his body will be interred at the Gudu Cemetry, near Apo Legislative Quarters.
