THE Academic Staff Union of Union of Universities (ASUU) is set to hold an emergency meeting with a delegation of the federal government following the union’s recent threat to embark on a fresh nationwide strike, a statement from the Federal Ministry of Education has revealed.

Mr Ben Goong, the ministry’s spokesperson who signed the statement, said in a statement that the meeting will hold on Tuesday by 11:00 a.m. at the ministry’s headquarters in Abuja. Mr Goong said Mallam Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education intends to use the meeting to the meeting “to nip the strike in the bud.”

ASUU had recently issued drawn government attention to outstanding issues in its agreements with the federal government before it suspended its 9-month old strike in January, warning that it will not hesitate to resume the strike.
