Following the recent increment in tariff by electricity distribution companies in Nigeria, the Benue State House of Assembly has challenged Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JEDC) to improve on electricity supply and
quality service delivery to Benue people.
The Speaker, Rt Hon Titus Uba, stated this when the  management of the JEDC paid a courtesy visit to the House in Makurdi. He called on the management of JEDC to check incidences of sharp practices amongst its staff that are capable of tarnishing the company’s image.
In his remarks, the Deputy Speaker, Hon Christopher Adaji, expressed satisfaction with the improved power supply in recent times and stressed the need for JEDC to maintain the feat.
The majority leader, Rt Hon Damian Cheme, expressed dissatisfaction with the unwholesome activities of the electricity company and urged it to brace up to the task of providing constant power supply and  replacement of  damaged transformers and other facilities instead of depending on individuals and communities.
Earlier the General manager of makurdi district of JEDC, Mr Joseph Kwaghgba, said the visit is to interact with the lawmakers as the representatives of the people on the recent situation on electricity supply in the state especially the upward review of the tariff as well as to  solicit their support to enable JEDC to better serve the state.
