SPEAKER, Benue State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Titus Uba, has promised to improve his leadership of the House and service to the state.
Uba, who represents Kyan State Constituency, stated this on Friday when the leadership of Men Ministry, Assemblies of God Nigeria, Wadata, Makurdi, paid him a courtesy call and presented an award of honour to him in his office.
The Speaker of the 9th Assembly said he felt humbled by the award more especially as it came from the body of Christ. He said he was also happy because he discovered that the Church was watching the ‘small things’ he was doing and urged them to extend the recognition to other deserving personalities like Governor Samuel Ortom and others who have been contributing their quota to the development of the state.
In his comment, Special Adviser to Governor Ortom on Religious Affairs, Gender and Civil Society, Pastor Blessed Onah, thanked God for answering Christians’ prayers in healing the Speaker and others from Coronavirus disease and prayed for God’s intervention to end the pandemic.
Earlier, President of the Men Ministry Assemblies of God Nigeria, Mr James Ogah, explained that their visit was to identify with the Speaker on his good leadership of the 9th Assembly and promised that they would sustain their prayers for him to achieve more success.
Mr Ogah further explained that the honour done Mr Uba was in recognition of his kind disposition to the Body of Christ and his contributions to the development of Benue State at large.
In a related development, a Non-governmental organisation, Benue High Group paid courtesy call on the Speaker same day.
In his speech, Convener of the Group, Mr Tersoo Akura, explained that the visit was to brief the Speaker on their activities and seek approval of the Assembly.
Responding, Rt. Hon. Uba commended Benue High Group for promoting the rich cultural heritage of the state and pledged collaboration of the legislature.
