THE Kaduna Peugeot Assembly Plant now jointly owned by Africa’s richest man, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Kano and Kaduna States and Stellantis Group in France has commenced production. The plant which is known as Dangote Peugeot Assembly of Nigeria (DPAN) which has capacity to produce 120 vehicles per day announced that it has commenced operations this February.
A statement issued by the company said it will employ latest technology and safety features as it tries to re-establish relationship with dealers across the country. Before now Innoson Motor Vehicles (IMV) was the dominant privately owned motor assembling plant located in Nnewi in Anambra State, South East, Nigeria.
DPAN, the statement said, is built to operate at full capacity of assembling close to 120 vehicles per day across all its outfits. The manufacturing Director of the plant, Ibrahim Issa Gachi was quoted to have stated that the newly assembled vehicles will flaunt the latest technology and safety features that would ensure its users are safe.
Gachi’s statement also said that the company has ensured the spare parts for all the newly assembled vehicles are made in local markets.
The management of the plant said in order to promote the sale of the new models of Peugeot, it is re-establishing contacts with Peugeot dealers all across the country to ensure a soft landing into the market and also ensure that the firm maintains a reliable reputation.
