From Nothingness to Greatness; By Pastor Favour Onoja

“And the Lord said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, southward and eastward, and westward” (Genesis 13:14-18).

GOD brought Abram to a place of destiny because He knew that there were things Abram could not see or achieve as long as he was cohabiting with Lot. Your placement in life is dependent on whom you associate with. Association can make or mar you.  Dr Creflo Dollar, in his words, said: “Association brings assimilation”.

Who are the Lots in your life? What are those issues that are choking your blessings and the anointing of God upon your life? You don’t have to accommodate them. It’s time to address those issues, if you must advance and experience a comeback, become all that God wants you to become and be a blessing to your generation.

The reason why you are where you are today is because of whom you associate with. There are some kinds of association that place a limit on you. There is nothing that takes a man up like right associations in life. If association is going to stop you from fulfilling your destiny, then stop it before it stops you like Samson. He couldn’t fulfil his assignment in life because of wrong association with Delilah (Judges 16:1-21).

The ships in which Jehoshaphat (who had riches and honour in abundance) journeyed on to Tarshish broke down on his way due to wrong association with Ahaziah (2 Chronicles 18:1; 20:37). So, who you are associating with can also define your speed and impact in life.

God couldn’t speak to Abram as long as he kept company with Lot. But after the separation, God said: “Look from where you are”. Where you are now is not your end; it is just your beginning. Don’t conclude your case yet because God has not finished with you. God is still with you and working on you. You are still a vessel in his hands and even if the vessel is marred, He will mould and shape you into His purpose (Jeremiah 18:1-4). So, I urge you to separate yourself from the crowd now and look deeply inwards through the scriptures. What is the Word saying about that situation you are going through right now? As far as you can see, God will give it to you. Mind you, you can limit God by what you see.

The ten spies limited God by what they saw. Not only did they limit God, their sight affected the people. So be careful what you see, for what you see can be contagious. The children of Israel murmured because of what they saw (Numbers 13:33; 14:1-5). That generation did not enter the promised land because of what they saw. However, the company of Joshua and Caleb saw well, for they said: “Only rebel not he against the Lord, neither fear ye the people of the land, for they are bread for us: their defence is departed from them, and the Lord is with us: fear them not.” (Numbers 14:9, 24). Therefore, they possessed the land because of what they saw.

Brethren, if you see in your spirit greatness and enlightenment, God will partner you just like He did for the men who built the “Tower of Babel” in Genesis 11:1-7. The Trinity and Divinity got committed to their work because of their imagination.

It is good to envisage the plans of God for your life. Joseph saw where he was going, so he was not intimidated by where he was nor the hatred from his brethren. He experienced the Four Ps of life and ended well. From the Pit to Potiphar’s House; from Potiphar’s House to Prison; from the Prison to the Palace.

David also saw the head of Goliath in his hands so he was not bothered by the criticism from his brethren nor the despise from Saul. He was focused and went ahead and brought down the giant who confronted the army of Israel for forty days and forty nights and cut off his head (1 Samuel 17:20-58).

Jesus was born in a manger, yet He was a King. The issue is not your background because everyone of us was born with our backs on the ground. The issue is your mentality. Jesus saw the resurrection, He saw you and I, and endured the cross because of the joy that was set before Him.

The gospel Singer, Andrea Crouch of blessed memory, sang a song titled: “It won’t be long”. Just a little while, your case will be visited.

Look from where you are to where you are going. Brethren, you can look from “Setbacks to Comeback; From Limitation to Enlargement; From Shame to Glory; From Failure to Success; From Prison to Palace; From fear to Faith; From Lack to Plenty; From Insecurity to Security & Preservation; From Mess to Message; From Mistake to Ministry; From Mediocrity to Stardom; From Pain to Gain; From Tragedy to Triumph; From Hurts to Healings and Halos; From Stumbling Blocks to Stepping Stones; From Obstacles to Opportunities; From Difficulties to Dividends; From Mountains to Miracles; From Devastation to Restoration; From Affliction to Affluence.”

Now that you have the opportunity to make right with God, do it now. Don’t procrastinate, don’t postpone it. If so, pray this prayer with me: “Lord Jesus, I come to you today, to surrender my life completely to you. I lived a self-centred life that is far separated from God. I confess you as my personal Lord and Saviour.

“Help me to escape the tragedy of eternity in hell. Help me to make Heaven at the end of my journey on earth. Thank you, Lord for hearing and answering me, in Jesus’ Name”
