AN Abuja-based businessman cum politician, Hon. Victor Hundu Ama, last Friday paid a sympathy visit to the Internally Displaced Persons (IPDs), who were victims of the recent military attack on some communities in Shangev-Tiev, Konshisha local government area of Benue State.
Hon Ama, who is from Vandeikya local government area, went to Gbinde and Gungul communities where the IDPs are located and donated relief materials ranging from bags of maize, salt, indomie, detergent powder, soap and slippers. The gesture, according to him, was a demonstration of his desire to cushion their hardship. He said he will make the visit from time to time.
Addressing the people at Waya Swande Catholic Church in Gbinde and NKST Gungul, Hon. Ama expressed displeasure over the condition of the IDPs, saying he was not happy to make such a donation when his people were in a pathetic situation but wished to have authority to prevent such occurrence.
He said that what happened was unexpected at this time in the 21st century but God who knows better would console them.
The business tycoon who is vying to represent Vandeikya/Konshisha federal constituency at the National Assembly therefore prayed God to empower him to be the mouthpiece of his people whenever their rights are encroached upon.
At Gbinde Community, Hon. Ama and his entourage were received by Rev. Fr. Simon Nyiekaa, priest in charge of Waya Swande Catholic Church who commended him for the kind gesture and Prayed God to bless him profoundly. The cleric also urged Shangev-Tiev people to channel their energies towards lucrative ventures to achieve development.
The entourage was received at NKST Gungul by the District Head of Iwarnyam, Chief Lazarus Unaha Kõkõ, and his counterpart from Mbakyase, Chief Timothy Luga, who was represented by the kindred head of Mbaakor/Mbaanaikyaa, Zaki Memzan Anacha while the items were received by the wife of the resident pastor assisted by elders of the Church for onward distribution to the beneficiaries.
