THE Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Labour Congress has extoled the services of medical laboratory technicians saying they are the pillars of the healthcare sector.
The Acting Chairperson of NLC in the state, Comrade Kayode Olusegun Martins, in a goodwill message to the Oyo State Delegates Conference of the Association of Medical Laboratory Technicians and Assistants of Nigeria (AMELTAN) on Monday said medical laboratory is the foundation and pillar in the provision of the right medical treatment.

According to Comrade Martins, laboratory technicians and assistants provide the evidence that is critical in the diagnosis and the treatment of any ailment or disease.
“That is why in the developed world, they are considered as the detective of the health world. Often times, they work silently (sometimes away from the appreciative sight of the public) at the background sorting, testing, and analyzing in order to come out with a precise and right result that can be worked with.
“Therefore, I see them as the vein and muscle that aid the movement within the healthcare system. I applause and endorse this conference which I believe will enhance and improve the skill and knowledge of these wonderful health workers in our society,” Comrade Martins stated.
The Association of Medical Laboratory Technicians and Assistant of Nigeria (AMELTAN) is the umbrella body of all Medical Laboratory Technicians and Assistants serving in all Federal and State Health Institutions, Tertiary/Secondary Hospitals/Ministries/Primary Healthcare Centers including Private Laboratories.
