BENUE State is to benefit from N2.3 trillion said to have been the receipts from stamp duties that accrued to the federal government in the last eight years.
Governor Samuel Ortom disclosed this Thursday in the palace of the Och’Idoma, HRM John Elaigwu Odogbo, in Otukpo, the traditional headquarters of Idoma land during his visit to bid farewell to members of the Idoma Traditional Council as his administration comes to an end on Monday, May 29, 2029.
He added that the federal government is also to remit the difference of N22 billion to the state government from the debt swap agreement negotiated by the Nigerian Governors Forum.
Ortom further explained that the N2.3 trillion is to be shared by the 36 states with 50% of the fund given to the outgoing administration before handover to be able to attend to financial issues standing against it why the remaining 50% be reserved for the incoming administration.
The governor however lamented that contrary to the agreement, he was yet receive alert for the fund.
Asserting that government is a continuum, Ortom called on the federal government to give to his successor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, every fund denied him for alleged political differences.
