THE Benue State Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Mr Ekpe Ogbu, who was kidnapped last Sunday along Otukpo-Ado Road, has regained freedom.

Benue State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Superintendent of Police (SP) Sewuese Anene, confirmed Mr Ogbu’s release in a statement to newsmen on Tuesday evening.

Anene, who gave sketchy information about the release, said: “Benue State Police Command confirms the release of Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development”.

She did not avail journalists details of the release regarding the other people abducted alongside the commissioner. She also did not explain how the release was accomplished, whether any ransom was paid or unconditionally and the state in which he was when released.

Recall that Ogbu was kidnapped with his driver and two others, at Adankari Junction along the Otukpo-Ado Road at about 4pm on Sunday.

The PPRO confirmed on 5th December, 2022 that the Toyota Hilux van the commissioner was traveling in was sighted and recovered by the police at a forest in Otukpo local government.
