Comrade Ivor Takor mni, To Write for NATIONAL RECORD

Comrade Takor

VETERAN trade unionist, Comrade Ivor Takor, has accepted an offer by the management of Contest Communications Ltd, publishers of National Record, to write a weekly column for the online publication.

Comrade Takor, who conveyed his acceptance to the publication’s Editor-in-Chief last Thursday, will be writing under the column title: Let’s Talk Pension With Ivor Takor”.

Comrade Takor, well-heeled in trade union and industrial relations matters, was a two-term President of the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) between 1999 and 2007 when he also served as National Treasurer of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

A senior lawyer in his own right, Comrade Takor is an alumnus of the prestigious National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), hence the suffix mni (Member of National Institute). He was a member of the Presidential Committee on Pension Reform set up by former President Olusegun Obasanjo that crafted the Pension Reform Act 2004. He was also a former member of the Governing Board of the National Pension Commission (PenCom).

Comrade Takor will use the platform of the column to share his rich experience and make useful intellectual interventions on pension matters, trade union issues as well as other social and economic matters at federal and state levels. Let’s Talk Pension With Ivor Takor will debut on Thursday, June 11, 2020.

Comrade Takor retired from federal public service as Director of Administration/Human Resources at the Nigerian Institute For Oceanography and Marine Research, Victoria Island, Lagos in 2012.
